SYDNEY, October 2, 2024 - Social Change Central, in collaboration with the Centre for Civic Innovation, is thrilled to announce the release of the Social Enterprise Sector Guide, a free resource designed to support and enhance understanding of Australia’s dynamic social enterprise landscape. This new guide offers a roadmap to navigate the complex social enterprise ecosystem, complementing the popular SOCIALCHANGEWayfinder tool.

The new Social Enterprise Sector Guide helps users maximise the potential of the SOCIALCHANGEWayfinder, providing knowledge and context for those seeking to make a positive impact. It offers a clear pathway for social entrepreneurs, advisors, and policymakers to effectively explore key contributors, activities and initiatives across the sector and utilise the abundant resources and opportunities available.

"The Social Enterprise Sector Guide represents another step towards making the social enterprise ecosystem more accessible and navigable," said Amelia Loye, Executive Director of the Centre for Civic Innovation. "Our goal is to provide changemakers with the guidance they need to make their ideas happen, enabling them with the information and resources to deliver outcomes for their communities."

This practical resource works hand-in-hand with the SOCIALCHANGEWayfinder, an extensive mapping of the Australian Social Enterprise Sector, also developed in collaboration with the Centre for Civic Innovation. With advanced filtering and new listings being added daily, from funding to consulting, programs, accreditation, and more, the SOCIALCHANGEWayfinder now includes over 425 organisations, tools, and platforms that form the backbone of the social enterprise ecosystem. "Think of the SOCIALCHANGEWayfinder as a vast library, and the Social Enterprise Sector Guide as your skilled librarian," explains Anne Lennon, Co-founder of Social Change Central. "The guide provides a comprehensive overview of the landscape, helping you know exactly what to look for and where to find it, saving you time and frustration."

This initiative is aimed at connecting stakeholders across the ecosystem efficiently, aiding them in their social and environmental missions. Jay Boolkin, Co-founder of Social Change Central, underscored the guide’s role in fostering collaboration and growth. "Our vision is for this new guide and the SOCIALCHANGEWayfinder to act as a catalyst for connection and partnership within the sector," he explained. "By providing a comprehensive understanding of the landscape, we aim to facilitate a more supportive environment where social enterprises can thrive and expand their reach."

The guide is designed to evolve alongside the sector, with regular updates planned to reflect new developments, emerging trends, and user feedback. "We see this guide as a living document," Boolkin added. "As the sector grows and changes, so too will this resource, adapting to meet new challenges and opportunities."

The Social Enterprise Sector Guide and the SOCIALCHANGEWayfinder are now freely available at Social Change Central - the Australian Social Enterprise Sector Gateway Portal. This dual offering marks a significant advancement in centralising navigation and facilitating seamless sharing of information and resources across the sector.
